ConnectNY Direct Borrowing Program

Posted: Feb 28, 2017

ConnectNY, an information system created by a consortium of libraries in New York State, enables authorized users to borrow books and other selected materials from member collections. Requested materials are typically available at the Folsom Library within 2 - 3 days. Users will receive an email notification when items are ready for pick up.

Who can use ConnectNY?

This program is available to Rensselaer faculty, students and staff. Other members of the Rensselaer community may search the ConnectNY database, but must request items using regular interlibrary loan services.

When requesting an item, the ConnectNY system prompts for your campus affiliation, RCS ID and password. Library users with outstanding bills, delinquent loans, expired library accounts, etc. will need to contact the Service Desk of either the Folsom or Architecture Library to resolve these access issues.

How long can I keep a book?

Usually available for 21 day loans, renewals may be requested pending approval by the lending library. All loans are subject to early recall by the lending library and count towards your personal borrowing limit at Rensselaer.

Are there any charges?

There are no fees for this service, but ConnectNY borrowers will be subject to billing for delinquent loans including separate billing and processing fees. Processing fees are not automatically waived if delinquent loans are returned late.
