ACS Web Editions - American Chemical Society - This is a collection of articles from the over 40 journals published by the American Chemical Society, searchable as a database. Individual journals may also be searched.

Compendex - This online version of Engineering Index available from Elsevier's Engineering Village 2 is the most comprehensive interdisciplinary science and engineering database in the world. It contains over 7.5 million records. It can now be simultaneously searched with Inspec, a leading bibliographic database in physics, electronics, computing, control engineering and information technology with more than 7.7 million records. The combination of the two databases makes it an excellent resource for physical chemistry information.

SciFinder Scholar - Chemical Abstracts Service This is a software interface allowing internet access to Chemical Abstracts Service chemical information from five chemical databases: the CA File going back to 1907 (called CAplus), the Registry File (a chemical dictionary file) ,CASReact (a chemical reaction file), ChemCats ( a chemical catalogs resource) and ChemList (a regulatory file). Medline is now also available. Searchable by subject, author, document identifier, company name, or chemical name, exact chemical structure, chemical substructure, or chemical reaction. For most chemicals there is now specific chemical property information including selected spectra. Requires the installation of SciFinder Scholar software.

Chemical Registry System - US EPA - Provides a common basis for identifying more than 70,000 chemicals chemicals listed in EPA regulations and data systems, and chemicals of interest from other sources, such as publications. Searches can be done by name, chemical abstracts service (CAS) number, or keyword/identifier.

MSDSSEARCH National Repository A compilation of material safety data information from around the nation.

NIOSH (The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) NIOSH This is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related disease and injury. The Institute is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Patty's Toxicology - E. Bingham, B. Cohrssen, C. Powell, eds.- Wiley Interscience - A comprehensive resource for toxicology data on industrial compounds from metals to synthetic polymers. Information for each compound includes CAS numbers, RTECS numbers, physical and chemical properties, threshold limit values (TLV's), permissible exposure limits (PEL's), maximum workplace concentrations (MAK), and biological tolerance values for occupational exposures (BAT). Chemistry Data Series - DECHEMA (Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Chemisches Apparatewesen), Frankfurt, Germany. For chemists and chemical engineers, this is a resource for the physical and thermodynamic property data of chemical compounds and mixtures, essentially for the fluid state covering PVT (pressure, volume, temperature) data, heat capacity and entropy data, phase equilibrium data and transport and interfacial tension data. We have Volumes 1 (Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium Data), 5 (Liquid-Liquid Equilibrium Data) and 6 (Vapor Liquid Equilibria for Mixtures of Low Boiling Point Substances). Typical solvents and solutes include water, sea water, heavy water, inorganic compounds, and a variety of organic compounds such as hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, alcohols, acids, esters and nitrogen compounds.

Aldrich Library of Spectra - Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc. St. Louis A handbook of spectra produced using the following techniques: IR, FTIR, 13C and 1H FT NMR, and NMR. Indexes include chemical name, molecular formula, catalog number and CAS registry number. Folsom Library Reference. NIST Chemistry WebBook - National Institute of Standards and Technology - A very complete resource for data, especially thermodynamic and spectral information on chemical substances. General searches may be run using a molecular formula, name, or CAS registry number, or using physical properties such as molecular weight or ion energies.

Sadtler Standard Spectra - Sadtler Laboratories, London UK Approximately 200,000 Standard Spectra produced by the Sadtler Laboratories using the following techniques: Prism, Grating, IR, UV, NMR and C13. These standard spectra are useful for comparisons for compound identification. Along with the spectra, other properties are included such as structural formula and molecular weight.
